The Haut-de-Cagnes, the picturesque village

Situated at the top of the castle hill, is the oldest district of the current city of Cagnes-sur-Mer (population 43,800). 640 inhabitants have chosen to live in this old district which was declared as "historic" in 1948. This district has kept the tranquility of village life, and is worlds away from the lively rhythm of the big cities of the French Riviera. Everything is there for the visitor who is looking for authenticity: the patina of time, stones charged with history, shady, narrow and flowered little streets, and unusual points of view on the Mediterranean and the Mercantour.

This old fishing village became a dynamic a seaside resort in 1971. It offers to people in love with the sea more than 3.5 km of public and private beaches. Today, if our "Cros-de-Cagnes" attracts more the holiday-makers with its nautical and tourist activities than from its fishing activity, however it has preserved its old world charm and the “country dialect”.
